Art classes are a fun way to engage families and members of the community. People are empowered and feel a meaningful sense of belonging during the process of sharing their art. I believe access to the arts is a human right, so I prefer to facilitate art programs at easily accessible places in the community.
Below are some photos of classes facilitated in the community:
Art classes at a laundromat, Rainbow Laundry, in Maryland. It was a community Partnership with Montgomery Housing Partnership, Rainbow Laundry, DC Voices, and Discover Long Branch. Topics included open studio, tissue flowers, instruments, collaging, paper weaving, dreamcatchers, puppet making, paper snowflakes, painting, and more!
Contracted Art classes at ArtReachGW . Classes varied and were for adults, teens, and families. Topics included Art Journaling, Family Art class, printmaking, mixed media, arpilleras, collaging, marble paper, and more!
Art workshops at CMS schools through a collaboration with site coordinators from Communities In Schools at Charlotte Mecklenburg and CMS family Bilingual Family Advocate. I conducted groups in 2 different schools for High School students 9th-12th grade. Workshops included Altered books, painting, and a healthy relationship workshop with jewelry making.
